The Penultimate Lord

The Penultimate Lord
Continuing my rough sketches in the Archon universe, this is a villain I call the Penultimate Lord. In developing the concept for his appearance I inadvertently came close to another villain from one of the big league companies. I'll let you guess which one. The Penultimate Lord is infused with entropic energy and has no story similarities so I think it's probably fine. I might further delineate the differences in some more sketches. He's meant to be an entropic being in futuristic powered armor.

I don't want to let anything go just yet regarding the origins of this fellow, but lets just say he's obviously got some connections with the end of everything. Which reminds me - I haven't yet drawn even a lick of Entropy.

Moleskine sketching

It seems like ages since I've sketched out anything more than doodles on actual paper. I got a couple sizes of Moleskines for my birthday a few months back and have been putting them to use in the last few weeks. The subject is Archons, which you may have seen here before.

Earth and Sky (complete)

Alright, below you will find the final result after coloring in Open Canvas. I think the verdict is in - I still like Open Canvas more than Photoshop for coloring. It really feels like painting.

Earth and Sky, color

Here's a closeup of some of the detail work. I like how her skin tones came out. The wings were simple but fun.

Earth and Sky

Last winter I started working on an illustration set in an apocalyptic fantasy world. The line work came out pretty nice, but I never got around to the colors for some reason. I forgot I was even working on it until I came across it a few months ago in my illustrations folder. I'm really tempted to do the colors now.

I call it Earth and Sky.
